I don't see any reason why it's hard for a believer to believe in the thing he believes.

well, it's not that easy. Oftentimes, there are questions/situations challenging one's belief in something.

Life of pi is one of my most favorite books too. The simile I like best is - "The voice that answered had an Indian lilt to its Canadian accent, light but unmistakable, like a trace of incense in the air."
